Day 2:
Arriving at the Paper Mill
I feel like I have been on this truck for days. I'm uncomfortable and have no idea where we traveled too. I'm worried about my home and wishing I was back there. The truck finally stops in a dark place and I hear the men get out of the truck. I am taken out of the truck and thrown into another bucket were I am being pulled closer to a very loud machine. I was thrown into a debarking machine with other trees. The other trees and I rub against each other ripping the bark off of our bodies and I feel like my body is being ripped apart. Once I am left with no more bark I am moved to the chipping machine. A large rotating knife chops shreds me into little pieces. I went from the tallest tree in the forest to little one inch shreds. I have lost all hope for my survival. The next step in my terrible day was is the pulping process. This process separates the cellulose and hemi-cellulose from whatever is left from my tree life. I heard the men saying that this process was most important because the remaining fibers are used to produce paper! I knew I was now done and I should just give up. I was than moved into the digester that turned me into a wet pulp material. I hope the pain is almost over. Once there is nothing left inside of me I am pressure cooked for the fibers to form me into a solid state. When I become a solid state again I can feel that I am no longer a tree. I have become paper.
